I lived in Snowdonia for the best part of two decades before moving to Orkney, and now, after a 20 year absence, the wonderful mountains of Wales are again within my reach.
- Rhinog Fawr via the Roman Steps – August 2021 – we saved the best until last, a walk in the magical heartland of the Rhinogs
- Llyn Irddyn and Pont Scethin – August 2021 – the second walk of our family camping trip to Snowdonia took us into the quiet foothills of the Southern Rhinogs.
- Snowdon from Rhyd Ddu – August 2021 – a family walk up the relatively quiet Rhyd Ddu path, returning via the South Ridge.
- The Welsh 3000’s – May 1987 – I regard the traverse of the fifteen Welsh 3000’ peaks in a day as one of the best walks that I have ever done, and it remains without doubt my hardest day on the hill. The route takes you through some fantastic mountain scenery and involves very little road walking. Highly recommended.
